The dinosaur group ornithopods included the giant Parasaurolophus, the tiny Lesothosaurus, and many other dinosaurs in between. The name "ornithopod" comes from the Greek words for "bird foot," which describes the dinosaurs' three-toed feet. However, this isn't the only similarity the ornithopods had with birds. They also had duckbills or beaks. The detailed illustrations and informative text in this book give readers a close-up look at twelve birdlike dinosaurs.

Series Review: Dinosaurs! This new series will entice reluctant readers and encourage them to explore dinosaurs from different geological time periods. Large computer-generated 3D color artwork, spread across two pages, oversized fonts, and titles that pop will catch the readers eye...Teachers will appreciate that these books contain several nonfiction features, such as captions, pictorial and bolded vocabulary words. Dinosaurs! is a solid high interest series for upper elementary readers.Library Media Connection
